Abstract:
Spiritual affluence addresses the most fundamental philosophical question of existence: "Is life worth living?" Focusing on the inner world of individuals and achieving spiritual affluence is integral to the sound development of modernization, and it is also an essential feature and inherent requirement of Chinese modernization. Starting from the "realistic human being" as defined by Marx, Chinese modernization establishes the people's central role in the narrative of social progress, clarifying the fundamental prerequisite for achieving spiritual affluence. The modernization of the capitalist era initiated the process of global modernization but also descended into an abyss of nihilism characterized by spiritual impoverishment, loss of meaning, and collapse of values, driven by the proliferation of materialistic consciousness. Chinese modernization is socialist modernization led by the Communist Party of China. By deeply understanding the nature and behavioral patterns of capital, it correctly handles the relationship between people and material possessions, breaking the modern curse of transitioning from materialization to nihilism. By establishing a harmonious coexistence between humanistic and economic development, it defines the value paradigm that modernization should embody and clarifies the intrinsic connection between spiritual affluence and the modernization process. Chinese modernization builds a vibrant modern spiritual and cultural home by clarifying the strategic position of spiritual affluence in the construction of a cultural powerhouse, stimulating the most widespread and genuine awareness of subjective existence, creating a balanced and proactive communal life, and enriching the tangible, life-oriented manifestations of spiritual affluence.
